Operation Autumn Color

Posted by Happy Homemaker UK

Yesterday
I hopped, skipped my way to
National Trust's Sheffield Park in East Sussex

A dear Garden Club leader
tipped me off to this autumn wonderland
last spring

I'd waited 6 months to see this

In my corner of England,
autumn is primarily amber, caramel, & green

Yet at Sheffield Park, oriental maples (acers) don their scarlet wardrobe

As I walk around many of the parks in England on a weekday
I am often the youngest person by a mile

The elderly in their golden years may have
canes or wheelchairs
but they cannot be stopped
from drinking the tranquility nature offers

A wonderful way to spend the day
at any age

and definitely worth the six month wait
:)

gorgeous images! how lucky you are to be an expat living in London-the images are lovely. We've been enjoying the fall here in NYC too! I'm your latest follower :)

Gorgeous and it reminds me of fall in Canada.

Nice photos. You don't get that over here in Florida where the seasons are much less dramatic. I like the mild weather here though. It starts getting cold and dark in Britain around this time.

I am soooo excited that I just found your blog!!! I can not wait to read the whole thing!!! I'm from Colorado Springs CO, where did u live here, in CO that is. I LOVE England, I can't even begin to tell you how much I do. I lived there from 1986 to 1990, seems so long ago. How I still miss it. I pray every day that I get back there some day for a long visit. Just me and my husband. It is my dream of all dreams. Well i guess thats all for now. I sure hope we can be friends. I am 48, a mom to 7 kids, 2 daughter in laws and 4 grandkids, plus one due in Dec...I love to sew, scrapbook, read and lots of craft stuff, I drink lots of tea, have lots of tea pots, and really lots of stuff to do with tea. Have a great day...Nora

Gorgeous images. And the one with the swan could be a postcard. Lovely. Too bad this beauty is not enjoyed more by the young.

Me and my friend got national trust memberships this year and we are always the youngest too! It makes me giggle, but it's lovely seeing all the older people enjoying the place together.

I didn't know about this place and may well go there extremely soon as it's not far from me at all!!

Thank you for the post and such stunning pictures, did you take them yourself?

Hello!
My in-laws live in Eastbourne. They have sent me photos of Sheffield Park and it looks lovely.
I have always wanted to see it. In 2010, we were able to visit and due to the late spring, we were able to go on a Bluebell Walk, something else I've always wanted to see!
Love your blog! I am an American married to a Brit
and my blog is www.georgiagirlwithanenglishheart.blog
Cheers!

If you have the opportunity to read the book food rules, it is a fast read and so interesting. On my blog I only listed a few of the rules but they are all so interesting.

Can I ask, are you in England with the military? Or are you there just because you wanted an adventure?

My brother lived there for 10 years and moved back two years ago. I visited him there many times and can recommend a few great places to visit and some wonderful bed and breakfasts.

Thank you for visiting. Have a great weekend.
