Wow, what a glorious evening after raining all day
Last night was chilly but clear
A perfect night to witness the lighting of a Jubilee Beacon
A perfect night to witness the lighting of a Jubilee Beacon
Joining a few hundred others in the middle of a hay field,
there was one round of 'hip, hip, hooray'
and a few bottles of champagne opened
From where we stood, we could see fireworks
and two other beacons in the distance
knowing we were just 3 of 4000 beacons lit around the world
It was awesome

I didn't know about this custom. Community building and fun.
That is a really impressive beacon. I also thought it was very interesting, the method that the Queen used to light the beacon out the front of Buckingham Palace, very simple by placing that diamond crystal in the holder, and then seeing the magnificent flame that came out of the beacon.
Wasn't it all wonderful?! I watched it to the very end with the lovely fireworks display! I loved Charles's speech and he got a smile out of his Mama when he called her "Mummy" and the crowd cheered!
I like what Sandra said, so now I'll have to Google Charles's speech. I like the bonfire night! It reminds me of Lark Rise.
I watched the concert on BBC Player online - I caught the reveal of 'Sing', Charles's speech, the grand fireworks and much more!! So many highlights :)
This gives me chills. How wonderful to be a part of all of this. I've got my Jubilee Tea posted and ready to link to your party tomorrow. Thanks for hosting. I'm eager to visit all the wonderful posts. ~ Sarah
Now that is a grand fire!

I have so enjoyed your "coverage" of the events for the Jubilee and I've learned a ton. Miss you and thanks for always making me smile!
Sounds like so much fun, glad you are making the most of all the celebrations.
And how wonderful the royals and their attendants looked on their fancy dress party costumes!

I would of loved to have seen pictures of the fireworks.
