Road closure signs are sprouting up around Surrey
for the upcoming Summer Olympic cycling races
These gorgeous 'tree tunnels' are typical in this area
Many Olympic cyclists who will ride these roads are in the Tour de France now
The Olympics start next week - you know I'll show you what I see :)
Stay tuned :)

What a beautiful road to travel! Not much longer before it all begins. Have a great day. Tammy
Did you get tickets for any events?
Hope you have lots of fun.
Hope everything comes off as planned.

We did - beach volleyball and track & field. We'll walk over to watch the cycling road race too :) Yea!
what a beautiful place to ride! i'd not want it to be a race, though. :)
Hi Laura,
Wow, those tree tunnels are sooo pretty; I bet you love living in Surrey! Coincidentally, we've been watching the Tour De France at our house -- all three weeks. We record the morning coverage on our DVR and watch it in the evening after work. I love the scenery and all the bright, colorful flags from every nation and region. I'm thinking it may be the closest we get to visiting France, as it's so expensive to travel internationally right now (and such a hassle).
Of course, we'll be watching the Olympics coverage, too. I can't wait to see the shots of London, and I'll be watching your blog for coverage with the personal "Laura" touch. :) I'm going to do a post, or series of posts about our England trip sometime this summer, Laura. I'd love for you to read it since you're an American living over there. I loved our trip and took so many pictures. I thought this summer would be a good time to do the posts because of the Olympics and the return of Downton Abbey in September.
Hope all is well with you and your family.
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Please watch out for our Island boy - Ryder Hesjedal - he grew up in our rural neighbourhood and developed those efficient lungs riding up and down our hills. If you see him, please shout (or maybe your kids might make a sign?....) 'Go Ryder! The Highlands love you!'
I love your comment - yes, I'd love to just ride with a cruiser bike and a big basket filled with freshly picked wildflowers :)
Hi Denise, I'd love to read your post - will you drop me a line to let me know it is live? I don't want to miss it :)
That's so cool! We'll keep an eye out for your boy ;)
I can't wait to see your pictures!
What a beautiful road. It must be very exciting in England now...I remeber when the Olympics were held nearby in Los Angeles ~ so much fun!
How exciting! I love watching the Olympics, especially the diving & gymnastics.
The kids and I call them "tree tunnels" too (here in the Southern States)! And we break open the sun roof whenever we pass by!
Fab picture .... I love roads like these .... its all, quite literally, hotting up for the games this Friday!
I can't wait to see your pics of the Olympics! I would love to live in the UK. I've visited twice and am ready for another longer visit.
Keep the pics and stories coming!
I won't miss your blog for nothing. You are our official Olympics reporter!
Btw I can not imagine a more magic setting for a cycling event that the Surrey narrow roads!
Reminds me of where we used to live. :)
Lovely photo - my mum lives in Surrey and she says she hears fighter jets patrolling the skies - yikes!

Beautiful pic and I hope
the roads will be that sunny
and dry for the cyclists!
Looking forward to tuning
in....LOVE the Olympics!

Have you seen the bicycles decorated in flowers on the roundabouts? I thought of you when I saw them!
Aww, thanks Pet!
Hopefully those with tickets this year will have a better view thanks to them being moved to the middle.
Such a shame that Silverston had all that purpose built and didn’t into consideration the view the fans would have.
