Images Of England

Posted By Happy Homemaker

My kids are away for the week on a school trip,
so I've had a chance to see more of England
at a more leisurely pace

Here's a few photos from the week
that to me
seem unmistakably British

A tour of Prince Charles's private garden at Highgrove
brought me to the charming town of
Tetbury in the Cotswolds

And I wandered York for the day,
a beautiful, historically rich walled city in northern England,
easily accessible by a 2 hour train ride from London

The weather has been good this week
and since I have time to eek out one more day trip,
I am off to fulfill a garden quest today

Hoping to return with some wonderful photos to share with you
: )

I love your very English photographs. You have inspired me with a wish to go off exploring. Autumn is my favourite month here- we so often FINALLY get some sunshine! Jane x

Very English! We have some beautiful little corners here! We I could be you for your tea party but sadly it's too far away! Have a great time! Ada :)

Fabulous photos! I just love exploring little British towns and I always find something unique about each one. You are right, these are quintessentially British. Isn't York just fabulous? We went there in 2008.

These definitely look quintessentially English to me, Laura. I would love to visit the city of York, as well as James Herriot country in Yorkshire; his books are some of my all-time favorites. :)

Enjoy the rest of your free time to travel; I look forward to more pretty pictures.

Love Tetbury and your photos are wonderful! There is a very good cafe there in Brown and White's big Georgian building in the High Street. Divine coffee. x

Oh to see York again. Was the street entertainer dressed in blue still dancing? Love the Shambles, but far too crowded. I would have loved to tagged along with you.

Hi Ann, Maybe because it's the low season or because it was a weekday, the Shambles was not very crowded and there was no street entertainment. Would loved you to tag along too :)

Love James Herriot! I read a collection of his stories to my kids when they were younger :)

Beautiful England! I wish I had a fiver for every time I've been around that roundabout in Tetbury. Our good friends live there. It's a beautiful little town and the shopping is great!

All those lovely pictures make me realise that I really don't appreciate where I live! I should be more grateful :-)
Also, I love wandering through the Shambles in York (great bookshops...)

Great photos of some lovely places. I used to work in York and took for granted what a beautiful, historic city it is - now I love to visit as a tourist and wander about taking photos. x
